02 Website Visitors Can Now Hear Site Information Thanks To Use of BrowseAloud 6
Telefónica O2 Ireland has announced that visitors to the O2.ie website will be among the first in the world to take advantage of the latest version of BrowseAloud 6, software which makes websites accessible by reading content aloud and highlighting each word as it is spoken.
This audio-visual reinforcement improves comprehension and online reading for those who have difficulty reading text on screen. At least 20% of the population need help with online reading; including people with learning difficulties such as Dyslexia, older adults, those with poor eyesight and people who speak English as a second language.
Commenting on O2's adoption of the new version of BrowseAloud, Ita Lehane, Head of Operational Excellence, Telefónica O2 Ireland (pictured) said: "Using the BrowseAloud tool, visitors to the 02 website will now be able to hear information on everything from our latest mobile phones and price plans to new services which have been launched."
New features of BrowseAloud 6 include a floating toolbar where users can access its wide range of features more easily.Other new features include a talking dictionary, an MP3 maker, a screen masking tool and the ability to translate word-for-word between each of five languages: English, French, German, Italian and Spanish.
