Stripe Payments Added to Allow Cattle Farmers to Transact Online Quickly & Securely During Covid-19 Level 5 Restrictions
Due to a surge in activity for online cattle transactions caused by the Coronavirus pandemic and the latest Level 5 restrictions, online farming marketplace DoneDeal has announced it has added Stripe Payments allowing farmers to now accept payments securely online.
DoneDeal says that interest in farming overall is growing 25% year over year with over 13M ad views per month on the site’s farming section. So far this year, unique advertisement views on listings for beef cattle has soared to 40M, growing over 48% year on year to September 2020.
During the first lockdown in April-May, DoneDeal saw an even greater growth rate reaching as high as +107%, and early data following the most recent lockdown on Wednesday 21st October shows an increase of +18% in online demand in the 7 days after lockdown as compared to the 7 days previous.
In an effort to empower farmers to trade online during level 5 restrictions DoneDeal's General Manager, Rob Hume explained why the company has invested significant resources in its secure digital payments solution platform over the last week. “With the online demand for Cattle accelerating significantly we wanted to moo've quickly to provide an easy way for our beef farmers to ride the wave of demand as Level 5 restrictions continue.”
DoneDeal says its central mission is to empower Irish consumers by removing all uncertainty when it comes to purchasing online, and Stripe secure payments are just one of the ways it has been furthering this mission. Getting set up with this payment facility is easy, with farmers just needing to hit the ‘Connect with Stripe’ button in their DoneDeal profile to accept fully digital payments online.
