onwave to Launch VoIP Service

Blueface Secure Deal to Provide a Managed Voice Service to onwave Satellite Customers Across Europe

BLUEFACE_Alan_Foy_&_ONWAVE_Kevin_Ryan.pngonwave, the Mullingar satellite broadband reseller, has agreed terms with Irish VoIP (voice over internet protocol) provider Blueface to provide a managed voice service to residential and SME customers in rural areas of Ireland and the UK.

The deal will see Blueface provide a white label managed service platform to onwave allowing them to offer a new bundled package of broadband (managed by Tooway), TV (astra) and phone service.

Blueface say that customers, by switching their home phones to onwave, can save up to €240 per year on line rental as no phone line is needed, and will also gain the additional benefit of low-cost calls.

Alan Foy, CEO, Blueface, commented: "We are delighted to be working with onwave on this deal. The selection of Blueface as the preferred telecoms partner and subsequently the contract winner shows that the reputation of our technical team, our offering and our market presence is highly recognised among the industry. We are confident that our managed voice service will provide onwave customers with a superior telecoms offering."

onwave, formerly Satellite Broadband Ireland, was founded in 2008 by Kevin Ryan and Seán Óg Brennan. It is one of two distribution partners for Tooway in Ireland and partner of the 3 Ireland National Broadband scheme. The company recently announced a €4.15 million investment from Nucleus Venture Partners to help it expand the rollout of its broadband and telecoms service to other territories across Europe.

Kevin Ryan, Director, onwave, commented: "With this new offering, we aim to provide a truly guaranteed, universal broadband service for every Irish home regardless of location. Blueface's voice over IP service is second to none and we can now provide a quality phone service when added to our broadband and TV, which gives our customers even greater savings."

Blueface have claimed the deal with onwave is worth €2m to them, and is calculated on the expected revenue in terms of subscribers. However, it understood that there is no commitment with respect to a service duration, and Blueface declined to say how over what period the valuation has been made.
